I
am Joe F. Bozeman III, a senior attending Wright State University,
and I participated in the SECME program during my middle school
years. I was a young man interested in the engineering field and
SECME gave me some of my most impressionable experiences. I was
introduced to teamwork and collective brainstorming. Our teams
had to build bridges out of toothpicks that held a sufficient
amount of weight. It is an ironic memory because in my freshman
year of college we also had to build a structurally sound bridge,
out of a different material.
I was also introduced to important concepts such as determination,
ambition, and kindness. Our SECME teacher talked to us about trying
to do a good deed for another person everyday.
Towards the end of one year’s program I had the honor of
meeting an African American astronaut. That was a very memorable
and inspiring experience. I believe SECME was one the most important
reasons for my being in the position that I am in now –
on the way to graduating with a Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s
Degree. I am grateful for my experiences with SECME consciously
and subconsciously.
SINCERELY,
Joe F. Bozeman III
